Maximum Hosting Space

All hosting accounts have an initial quota for disk space. 95% of our customers will never reach this quota. If you are currently using 90% or more of your disk space quota, you can contact our support team for an increase, which will be granted to you free of charge as long as you're within our terms of service.

Our servers are optimized for website operation. Your account is not intended for storage space or file sharing. If you are using more than 15% or 2GB of your disk space for multimedia file storage, backup storage, or email storage, you will not receive an increase.

Deleting or locally storing your media, emails, and backups will clear up a significant amount of space, and will help you comply with our terms. Our support team can give you advice on good ways to go about this, such as setting up POP or IMAP for your emails.

Maximum Bandwidth

All hosting accounts have an initial quota for bandwidth. 95% of our customers will never reach this quota. If you are currently using 90% or more of your bandwidth quota, you can contact our support team for an increase, which will be granted to you free of charge as long as you're within our terms of service.

If your site is exceeding bandwidth due to illegal or malicious activity, intentional or unintentional, we will not increase your bandwidth. If you are unaware of automated scripts or other malicious files using your bandwidth, our support team will help you to remove these malicious files at your request, and then increase your bandwidth, if it is still necessary.

Free Domain Name

We offer a free domain name registration to our new clients, using the coupon code "freedomain". This coupon is worth $14.49, which will cover most .com, .org, and .net domains for one year. If the domain you want costs more than this, you must cover the difference.

The "freedomain" coupon cannot be used in conjunction with other coupons.

The "freedomain" coupon can only be redeemed within 30 days of account activation.

The "freedomain" coupon is only valid for your first year of domain registration. Your domain renews each year, usually for the same amount that you initially paid. After the first year, you must pay for your domain renewal to keep your domain.

Domain Privacy

Every domain name that is registered is also required by ICANN to provide "WhoIs Information" which is published across the web. This includes your name, street address, phone number, email address, and more.

When you sign up for our Super Max account we will include domain privacy protection for free. This protection will hide your personal information so that you are protected from identiy theft, spammers, and more.

Please note that Privacy Protection is only free with our Business Max hosting plans, and only for the first domain name registered with HostMetro. You can purchase Privacy Protection on any additional domains at a cost of $6.00/year.

Basic Site Transfer

Every account comes with a free basic site transfer. We will make every effort to transfer the site successfully from your previous host to our servers. Due to the possibility of other hosting companies configuring their servers differently than HostMetro, we cannot guarantee that any or all data will be transferred successfully. The site is transferred “as is”, so anything that was previously broken will still be broken, and we cannot guarantee that the content will function the same way after transfer.

The basic transfer included with your account is limited to the following:

You must redeem the transfer within 30 days of account creation.

The account size cannot exceed 3GB.

The website must currently be hosted on a cPanel/WHM server.

The previous account must be active so that we can gain access to it.

The previous account must remain active for the duration of the transfer.

You must give HostMetro temporary FTP and/or cPanel access to your old account.

Multiple external accounts cannot be consolidated into a single HostMetro account. If you have multiple accounts and want to transfer them to a single HostMetro account, each account will be considered a premium transfer and will be billed accordingly.

If these conditions are not met, then you will require a premium site transfer, the details of which are listed below.

Premium Site Transfer

The premium site transfer is for accounts that do not fall within the scope of the basic transfer guidelines. These transfers require more time and resources to move, so we charge a one-time fee of $29.95. We cannot guarantee that any or all files, databases, email addresses, etc., will work the same way as they did before, due to differing server configurations between hosts, especially hosts that do not use cPanel.

In the event that you require a premium site transfer, we will confirm the transfer as well as the $29.95 fee with you before taking any action. This fee is non-refundable and cannot be reversed in the event that the transfer is not completed successfully.
